Unlike regular health insurance, which tends to cover unexpected and sometimes catastrophic health problems, dental insurance is focused around preventative dental care. This means most coverage goes toward routine dental checkups and teeth cleanings, which help to prevent cavities, gingivitis, gum disease--issues that can, in turn, lead to more costly treatments. At Creating Smiles, PC, we encourage you to take advantage of your dental benefits so you can maintain your healthy smile and avoid requiring more intensive dental services that will have less coverage.

What Exactly Does Dental Insurance Cover?
Generally, standard dental checkups and cleanings have 80 to 100% insurance coverage. Your out-of-pocket costs should be minimal for these services. Restorative procedures such as crowns, bridges, and dentures are covered by about 50 to 70%, and cosmetic services, including teeth whitening and veneers, usually aren’t covered at all, since they’re considered elective. If you’re interested in having third party financing to help you cover the cost for a cosmetic procedure, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help!
